Robot joins housekeeping staff at Del Mar hotel
Del Mar Hotel Welcomes Its Newest Employee: A Robot
The future of hospitality has rolled into Del Mar, and it does not need coffee breaks.
TechForce Robotics just deployed its TIM-E autonomous service robot at the Homewood Suites hotel in Del Mar, making it one of the first properties in San Diego County to embrace this level of back-of-house automation. TIM-E, which stands for Things in Motion Everywhere, is now handling the grunt work that nobody really wants to do, including hauling dirty linens and transporting waste across multiple floors.
The robot operates around the clock using autonomous navigation with real-time obstacle avoidance. It can open doors, call elevators, and navigate crowded hallways without bumping into guests heading to the pool. The modular design means the same robot can switch between different tasks depending on what the hotel needs.
TechForce is deploying TIM-E through its Robotics-as-a-Service model, meaning hotels do not have to purchase the hardware outright. The company installs, manages, and maintains the system so hotel staff can focus on guests instead of troubleshooting robots.
Company president Ried Floco emphasized that TIM-E is designed to work alongside staff rather than replace them. The goal is freeing up housekeepers from physically demanding tasks like dragging heavy laundry carts down long corridors.
TechForce made waves at CES 2026 in January when its beverage-dispensing robot BIM-E served over 5,000 drinks during the four-day event. The Del Mar deployment marks another step in the company's push to bring commercial robotics into everyday hospitality settings across Southern California.
For anyone staying at Homewood Suites, do not be alarmed if you see a robot rolling past your room. It is just TIM-E doing its thing.
